Day 13 Barcelone-du-Gers to Miramont-Sensacq 19.3kms and 466m (233.5kms 5517m)

Beginnings and endings

We began the day in the rather beautiful house in the drab, poor looking town.
It was cool but sunny. A big days walking with no stops today, except 2kms in at Aire Sur l'ador, so we stocked up. A long bagel, cheese, an apple, yoghurt and some comfort food ( fruit jubes and eucalyptus drops)
The walk out of town was long and steep followed by..... Steep down hill of course, to a large lake.
Then followed hours of walking between flat fields, some with pasture some freshly ploughed. Then the rain and wind started, and stopped. Three fields later sunshine again and then rain again set and repeat all afternoon.
Our Maison d'hotes was spectacular.
Set high on a hill 700m out of town it was a grand old building built in
1772.
The kitchen was large old and stylish in a country way.
We were the only guests, though they had had 7 the night before. At dinner
we noticed these photos

Our hosts had renovated the house themselves. Saving it from ruin from 2001 to 2008.
Dinner was a delicious homegrown and homemade vegetable soup, a pork stew and Ratatouille for main and of course a locally baked apple slice for desert.
Good night
